When your heart
Remains in Iquitos
During our sabbatical year of Latin American traveling, my partner and I also went to Iquitos, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon jungle, to volunteer.
I had no idea I’d be falling in love with a community, wishing to never have left.
And they need your support.
Many tourists go to Iquitos to see the jungle or for ayahuasca ceremonies. But the reality on the other side of the retreat walls is extreme poverty.
Belén, one of the neighbourhoods of Iquitos, is underwater for half of the year.
Nearly 40% of kids in the poorest neighborhoods aren’t even attending school.
But there’s a way you can help.
Iquitos, Peru
Casa Ainbo is a school reinforcement program, somewhat like an after-school. Through tutoring and extra classes, the team and the volunteers are helping the kids dream of a future beyond poverty.
It’s an NGO full of incredible people dedicating their lives to making an impact. We were lucky to be part of the project and see the amazing work they’re doing!
Your donation will help to provide:
4 weekly hours of English classes with a qualified teacher.
4 weekly hours of mathematics classes with a qualified teacher.
Computer, science, art, and sports classes.
Daily tutoring and help with homework.
At the end of the 2024 school year, all Casa Ainbo kids were promoted to the next grade! With more donors, the same could be possible for 2025.
